Weekly Report 11 Jun 13

Post by Brad » Tue Jun 11, 2013 2:09 pm

Plenty of rain coming this week but it will make for better fishing in the weeks to come. The Pumistone Passage finally has a full run of the winter species with the big bream coming in. Some reports put them as big as small snapper which make for some really good fights on light gear. Small live herring and hardi heads will make the difference between good fish and great fish. In fact, any live bait including prawns, yabbies or strips of mullet are all baits that will turn things in your favour.

Mulloway are around but in the deeper holes during the tidal changes so pick the ebb of the last of the run in tides and use either large green or cooked prawns or mullet for best results. Plastics will also work and the 7" Zman lures are very good at attracting them. Whiting can be caught around the boat hire in Golden Beach right through to Gemini Towers. The sand flats between Gemini and the Cod Hole are worth a short kayak trip out to and then walking around.

Offshore will be the place to be as the it gets later in the week. Target pearl perch and snapper around Wide Caloundra and look to the inner reefs for snapper, moses perch, mowong and hussar. There are still some independant tuna slashing through the small bait schools around Noosa North Shore and tailor and bream around the beaches at the moment. I have included a few pictures of some brilliant muddies caught recently around Boyne Island. Thanks to Dave Maybury for sending them on. Have Fun!
