Weekly Report 8 Jul 13

South easterlies will rule this week and could well make conditions offshore a little lumpy however the fish are around in good numbers if you are prepared to have a go. After the rain and choppy seas it was hard work to get a few fish but that has improved over the last few days thankfully. Parrot are plentiful around Murphy's and the Gneering's Shoal and they are a fair size around the 2kg mark. Hussar are predominant out wider but nothing of any size. Cobia are around but they were very fussy after the rain and wind. Live baits like yakkas are the go to tempt them into smashing your baits. If the south easterlies drop down, I would be looking at heading wide to the northern end of the banks or Caloundra to get into the snapper and pearl perch. Amberjack are still on the deeper pinnacles as are the kingfish.

The estuaries are slow but there are plenty of smaller undersize fish for the kids. After all the poor weather it will take sometime for the fishing to improve. There have been reports of anglers being bitten off which normally signifies that the tailor are in the system and this sure looks to be the case. There were plenty of boaties and anglers fishing from the shore line over the weekend but not a lot of positive reports unfortunately. Look for the sheltered areas to fish out of the winds this week until better conditions prevail. Have Fun!
