Weekly Report 8 Nov 13

Post by Brad » Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:50 pm

Typical November weather is to continue with northerly winds blowing making it difficult to fish and uncomfortable to ride on in the boat. There have been catches of tuna and wahoo around Hutchies and out at Wide Caloundra. One session last weekend saw a mate bag 3 wahoo and 1 tuna in a space of 40 minutes and then it was all over as fast as it started. Mackerel are still out the front of Point Cartwright and around the Gneerings. Fishing later in the morning and getting the bait down to their depth is paramount to bag a few. Pearl perch and snapper still in the deeper waters around the Barwon Banks and some terrific king fish on the wrecks. If its cobia you want to catch them head out with plenty of live bait on board.

The estuaries have been quiet but still reported catches of bream, whiting and good sized flathead throughout the Pumicestone Passage of late. Herring are still around in good numbers so try a few of those for livies or dead baits for bream. Mangrove jack have been taken in Currimundi Lake and the canals at Kawana Waters right through to the area around Twin Waters. Try the mangroves around the back end of the passage for some luck. Crab pots are filling up and some old mullet or big herring have seen quality catches in the passage. The Boardwalk has had catches of flathead and trevally but they are occurring in the early hours of the morning. Have Fun!
