Maroochy River and surrounds firing after dark!

Mud crabs and sand crabs are definitely on the move in the Maroochy River with good numbers getting caught right throughout the system. Trevally are on the chew after dark up from Bli-Bli Islands and past Coolum Creek with schools of fish gathering up small baitfish and prawns coming past with the tides. Flathead, bream and the odd school jew have been active around the Cod Hole with low light periods fishing best. Try using small soft plastics around the 2-3” size or when the current is running fast, soft vibes like River2Seas Fish Candys also take their fair share of fish. The River mouth has also been fishing well on dusk with reports of big flathead, whiting and bream getting caught from this area.

Along the beachfront, reports of tailor have been coming thorough fairly consistently now, with the gutters around both Yaroomba and Marcoola beaches being your best bet. Early morning off Northshore beach can pay off with good size dart, tarwhine and bream swimming through the gutters.

Offshore, early morning trips in close are paying off with quality squire, sweetlip and other reefies hanging around Coolum Reef and also Arkwright Shoal. Bigger sized snapper are in good number around Murphys with a good berley to get them on the bite and light line your efforts can pay off. The banks have been fishing well for parrot, pearlies, red-throat and of course snapper.

For all the latest reports call into Davo’s tackle World in Noosa or Davo’s bait and tackle In Marcoola, and remember Tight Lines and Bent Spines.
