Report 27/10/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Mon Oct 27, 2014 9:27 pm

With the weather looking great over the next week why not get amongst the action. The offshore and river fishing is nothing short of sensational with some great catches being reported throughout our area.

Offshore; wide of the banks is where you want to be fishing with quality snapper, parrot, pearlies, amberjack and dolphin fish all a part of the action, anglers have been having great success right up and down the coast, the Maria Shoretricker Jigs with their unique fluttering action on the drop resembling a wounded bait fish have been working a treat, these represent an easy meal for a hungry reef fish. Cobia are in good number on closer reefs with the Gneerings being one of the standouts, for best results when chasing cobia burley up, fish pilchard floaters back into the burley trail, you can mix things up with soft plastics, cobia will often take a plastic so it doesn’t hurt to have when sitting out from the back of the boat.
On the beach whiting, bream and dart have been in good numbers along the Maroochy Northshore stretch with early morning sessions really firing. On dusk their have still been good numbers of school jew around with fresh mullet strips again proving the gun bait.

In the river trevally are right throughout the system with the highest point of the tides the best bite. Whiting are still in good numbers with anglers getting best results chasing them on dusk up around the mouth. For those of you that kayak fish the top end of the river has been firing for bass and jacks with surface walking and poppers like the Lucky Craft G Splash a proven winner. Also give the 3’ Minnowz from Zman rigged weedless a go, they can prove very exiting when chasing these magnificent fish.
