Warmer Weather Firing Up the Jacks

In the Maroochy River the upper reaches have been alive with school size jew, with anglers getting amongst them on both soft plastic lures and live baits. Jacks are on the bite also in the upper reaches with the warmer overcast days really getting them fired up. When targeting jacks on lures in the upper river it pays to have to two or three rods rigged with different lures, we mainly use three different lure representations being large poppers, 100mm suspending hard bodies and weedless rigged soft plastics, having all three on hand can really increase your chances when chasing jack. Flathead have been thick up around the Bli-Bli islands with the change of the tides really bring them on the bite. Godfreys wall has been holding some nice size bream with small pilchards and mullet strips doing the damage. Surface popping for whiting can be quite enjoyable with the flats around Chambers Island holding some quality sized fish.

On the beach an early morning session down along Northshore beach can pay off with dart, bream and whiting all holding up in the area. When fishing the gutters along the beach it pays to travel light, if the one you’re fishing in isn’t producing then move along to the next one as fish can be concentrated in different numbers along the beachfront. Tailor have been reported along Perigian Beach with anglers getting best success on dusk and into the night.

Offshore Coolum reef and Arkwright Shoal have been fishing well before sun up with pan size squire and quality sweetlip. Out wide the banks is where the bigger models have been lately with snapper, tuskies amberjack and dolphin fish in numbers over the banks.

Special deal this week: spend $100 in store and we will give you a free Jarvis Walker tackle box. Just mention that you read it in the forum and take advantage of this great deal.
