Rain a Necessity for Estuary Fishing!

With much needed rain falling over the Sunshine Coast in the past week, we should expect Maroochy River and surrounds too really start to fire. Mud crabs have been on the move with the Stretch alongside the Bli-Bli islands producing a few nice bucks. While up that way throw a line in and troll along banks as there have been some quality flathead holding in the area. One lure that works for all species in the river is the Maria hard bodies they come in three different sizes and are a must have in your tackle box. The mouths of Eudlo and Petrie Creeks are worth a try on the change of the tides with bream, trevally, flathead and jacks going for a well presented lure or bait. Trevally are on the bite in the early mornings around the Motorway Bridge with prawn style soft plastics working well. River 2 Sea Australia have just released the new Wild Prawn they look just like the real thing.
On the beaches whiting and flathead have been on the bite along Marcoola beach with cured worms and pipis working a treat. School size jew have been caught along Yaroomba beach on fresh mullet strips and squid.
Offshore reports are mackerel are holding up around Double island point and should start to come down within the next few weeks, with all the signs of a terrific season ahead. Tuna and bonito schools are hanging around just behind the nets with small slugs and soft plastics lures being there undoing. The Gneerings is producing quality squire along with sweetlip and cobia.
This week we are running on special, spend $100.00 in store and we will give you a free Jarvis Walker tackle box, simply mention that you read it in the forum and take advantage of this great deal.
