Report 19/2/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:00 am

In the river the early morning highs over the past week have been turning on the trevally with some good fish landed around the River Mouth and under the Motorway Bridge. Whiting have also been on the bite after dusk with live nippers and cured worm doing the trick. Mangrove jacks have also been reported coming from the deeper holes around Coolum creek and Dunethin Rock. Up around the Bli Bli stretch of the river there have been some great flathead with live prawns being the bait of choice. For those of us preferring lures the new Prawnstar Lures have just hit the shop, you will need a firm tipped rod to get the tail action working but when worked properly these are and outstanding prawn imitation with a great action.
On the beach thing have been a little tough, but fishing that white water can quite often have outstanding results. With the rougher weather we have been having, there are some great gutters forming and a fish on the incoming tide may surprise you, as the bread and butter species like whiting, bream and dart feel saver under the cover of the white water.
With the wind and swell again being up over the past week, Last Sunday and Monday the best days of the week for the larger vessel that have been out. In-close is where you want to stick to with squire, sweetlip and some pelagic action coming from around Coolum reef.
Davo’s Tackle World Noosa would like to invite you all to our social fishing competition!
