Report 26/2/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Feb 26, 2015 11:35 am

We have been away for a few months now and the reason being is that Kawana Bait and Tackle is under new ownership and management. We are currently going through some drastic changes with re-branding and we are trying to fulfill the fisho's urge and splurge of information through a brand new website, YouTube TV, various social media outlets (facebook, instagram etc.), printed media and blog spots. We know this will take time and we are hoping to get this all settled by the end of the financial year.

Now to the report. Cyclone Marcia has torn apart the Capricorn Coastline and we have also had our fair share of scares with the amount of rainfall. The river systems have had there much needed flush and we are now waiting for the fish to come on the bite. The waterways are slowly clearing and the wind and swell is going to be comfortable for majority of next week so it is all looking very promising.

Since we have been gone for a while I will give you a short recap of the last few months.
For the bottom bait anglers the reef species have been in great form everywhere. From Old Woman Is. to the Barwon Banks, to Caloundra 5 mile to Caloundra Wide. Currimundi Reef has produced some great live bait for those chasing the mackerel and no place has been more popular than 12 mile. The marlin season has produced one of its best with plenty of little blacks getting around the Christmas period.

In the rivers there have been some great whiting caught on live beach worms with trevalley hitting the rock walls early morning and late evening. Plenty of bream caught on prawns and some small lures like your vibes and soft plastics and there are no hardier free moving soft plastic than the Z-Man 10x Tough. There were some great hauls of Mangrove Jack around Minyama and the upper reaches of the Mooloolah and Maroochy Rivers around Bli Bli. Some school Jew, whiting, Dart, flathead and bream off the beach with Live beach worms, prawns, ganged pillies and silver slugs for the dart.

All in all we have had a great adventure through the Christmas period and with some great fish caught to match. I know we are all itching to get out there now the weather is better.

For all of your up to date daily fishing report just like Kawana Bait and Tackle on our Facebook page and we update morning and afternoon every day.
