Report 19/3/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:21 am

The fishing just keeps getting better!

What a great run we had on the offshore scene last week! With everything from reefies to pelagics all on the chew. Not to mention the cleaner water now turning the fish on in the river. Outside; if you’re after a bit of fun on light gear then follow the beakers down to Old Woman, where tuna schools are gathered in numbers, with longtail, macks and even small yellowfin tuna are smashing through bait schools. If you need any more info on what to use or what outfits are best suited to chasing the speedsters drop by the shop. Sweetlip, squire, spangled emperor and trout have also been on the chew around the Inner Gneerings, with the added bonus of big spanish. Also the grounds out wider of Caloundra (10 mile) has been fishing exceptionally well for lippers, snapper and pearl perch.
On the beaches over the past week, there have been reports of nice size school jew coming from around Pincushion, with the odd bigger model getting caught along Northshore Beach, with fresh mullet fillets and Salted down bonito fillets doing the damage. Still the odd squire and sweetlip getting caught of the beach with the deep gutters around Coolum attracting a few fish, also reports of nice size tailor coming through with the odd standout fish to 2.5kg caught along Peregian Beach.
In the rivers; the mouth has still been the preferred spot amongst most anglers with all your bread and butters species gathering in numbers. Burley can significantly improve your success when fishing in the river especially if you’re land-based, all you need to do is put a handful of pellets in the water every 15 minutes to get fish coming from everywhere. Slow rolling soft plastics around the Motorway Bridge has been paying off with trevally, bream and jacks getting pulled from the surrounding structure.
Now for all the latest information log onto http://www.fishingnoosa.com.au for up to date bar and fishing reports and don’t forget to drop into Davo’s Tackle World Noosa or Davo’s Bait &Tackle Northshore at Marcoola to find out what’s biting and where, and remember, Tight Lines and Bent Spines!
