Report 28/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 29, 2015 12:38 pm

The wind and swell are at a low point and the high tides coincide with dusk and dawn. This makes fishing easy and comfortable wherever you are.
The offshore is set to fire with some boats taking advantage and heading out before the weekend. There are reports of good mixed bag species around the inner reefs with the Gneerings and Murpheys the hotspots. There have been plenty of Snapper, Pearlies and Sweetlip taking the big baits of squid and Pilly’s. Mackerel have been hard to come by but are well worth a look in with floating a slimy, Bonito or Jumbo Pilly out the back of the boat which could also snag you a nice Kingy or Cobia.
The Mooloolah River has been pretty busy off the entrance with some nice school Mackerel, Grunter and big Bream prominently caught on small pilly’s. Give some soft plastics a go with chrome lures to mix things up and you might also catch a Taylor or two. Around Labalsa Parks Boat ramp and The Basin there is plenty of action from the likes of Whiting, Bream and Flathead. Some big 40cm Bream have been reported but are hard to come by still. Small vibe lures and TT Switchblades are a great way to land a nice bream. They hit harder and the fight is very exciting. With these lures there is every chance of landing a rogue Trevally.
Buddina beaches have had it tough the last few weeks with the swell crashing in and the gutters not forming. This has been difficult time for Jew fish but it isn’t to say they aren’t there. Dart still seem to be in the small gutters with some bream. But with limited push on the beach there has been a good increase in the catches of whiting and flathead. Using Live beach worms, small pilly’s, pipi’s and Mullet fillets there is a variety out there to be caught.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. ... RaWdTsQmnw

Some nice kingies have been speared around the Blinker.
This nice jewy was caught just south of the Blinker.
