Maroochy River anglers Bag some nice Bream!

Wow! What a great change in the weather, with the sun finally coming out to play! It’s time for all anglers to check over your knots, grab your gear and get out for a fish. In the river; bream fishing is sensational at the moment with various models coming out of the river. One of the better places to target bream would be at the River Mouth on the run in tide, with the best bait being a well presented mullet strip on a running sinker rig. Chambers Island has also been a cracking spot to target bream, tarwhine and whiting with worms and half pillies being the standout baits, soft plastic worms trimmed back to around 3inches have also proved very successful and save you re-baiting your hooks after each cast. Trevally have been active of an early morning around the Motorway Bridge and up off Godfreys Wall, with light weighted micro jigs working best. Further upriver the deeper holes surrounding Coolum Creek have played host to good size school jew and jacks, with lightly weighted live baits doing the damage.
On the beaches; bream tarwhine, whiting and flathead have been thick along Northshore beach during the low and the start of the run in. Tailor have been active after dark with the gutters around Coolum Beach and Peregian holding some of the bigger models. Sandworms are in good numbers along the beachfront with reports of good size worms coming from Marcoola Beach. Dart have also been active during the day along Marcoola.
Offshore the report have been a little slow with not a lot of anglers heading over the bar. The conditions came good for one stage last week and anglers in the know certainly mad the most of it. With good reports of cobia, pearl perch, and sweetlip coming from the 9 mile. Out wider snapper have been a little funny so far with some good fish showing up on the Northern side of the banks.
