Report 3/7/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Jul 03, 2015 12:13 pm

Holidays set to produce as weather fines!

With nothing but wind and rain for the past two weeks, it’s good to see the sun now making a strong comeback just in time for the school holidays.
With the temperature continuing to drop a few different species are making their way out of hiding. Bream are taking over the river system with solid fish getting up over the 40cm mark. The River Mouth has been the pick of the spots for big bream with fresh mullet strips and small pillies being the go to bait. Chopper tailor and trevally also been making their way through the Mouth on the run in tide. Small slugs worked fast through the water column and micro jigs have claimed their fair share. Jewfish have been active throughout the river with the nights producing quality fish some up into the 13kg size.
It doesn’t seem to matter where you put a line in along the beaches, you will be sure to catch a bream with almost all the gutters producing quality fish. Flathead have been caught out of the gutters along Marcoola beach using small pillies, worms and mullet. Soft plastics are also worth a shot for flathead, whiting with the Gulp Sandworms producing good fish. Nice size jew have been caught over the past week on the lead up to the full moon, fishing for jew requires plenty of patience and a bit of luck. If you want to know a few secrets on catching a jew or two just drop by the shop. Perigian Beach has seen the odd greenback tailor coming through on dusk.
Offshore; with the swell hopefully dropping away, you can hedge your bets that anglers across the coast will be out in force. Arkwright Shoals has been fishing well of an early morning for sweetlip, redthroat, squire, and the odd cobia. If conditions are favourable then a trip to the Nothern end Banks should pay off, with big snapper up to 5kg, pearlies, redthroat, tuskies, cobia and cod all on the bite.
Now for all the latest information log onto http://www.fishingnoosa.com.au for up to date bar and fishing reports and don’t forget to drop into Davo’s Tackle World Noosa or Davo’s Bait &Tackle Northshore at Marcoola to find out what’s biting and where, and remember, Tight Lines and Bent Spines!
