The weather was back at its best during the latter part of last week, with the locals and holidays makers surely taking advantage of it. Offshore we saw a heap of boats go out over the weekend with some good catches being reported. In close is fishing well for squire, sweetlip and red throat with the added bonus of jew after dark, try both Coolum Reef and Hancock Shoal for best results. Pearlies and good size snapper are being reported around the 12mile off Caloundra with some quality cobia also making an appearance. The banks has been firing for snapper (up to 5kg) also tuskies, pearlies the odd trout and cobia.
On the beaches; the gutters along Marcoola and Northshore Beaches have been keeping anglers satisfied with plenty of bream, dart and whiting on beach worms with flathead also about with better quality fish being caught on plastics. Tailor have been a little slow over last week with reports of fish up to 60cm coming from Northshore Beach.
In the river; flathead, whiting, bream and chopper tailor have been caught on the incoming tide off Picnic Point with fresh mullet and liver herring working well. Small metal slugs spun through the water have also produced their fair share of fish with the Halco Twistys in the 10g size matching the bait coming through the system. Trevally have been caught in good numbers up Petrie Creek with 2 and 3 inch Keitech Easy Shiners being the standouts plastic.
