Report 30/7/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Jul 30, 2015 2:40 pm

We had a fantastic week last week and it looks like this weekend will be no different. The wind and swell was around late Sunday through to early Tuesday but that works in our favour. This all stirred the bottom back up a bit ready for another fantastic weekend. From Friday onwards it looks like we will get only gusts up to 10 knots with Friday and Saturday the calmer periods wet a line offshore.
The reports for the past week are very much the same when the good weather is around. The Hards and Barwon Banks were the better locations with some nice Amberjack, Snapper, Big Pearl Pearch, Cobia, King Fish and the list just goes on. James (Staff Member) went to the Hards last weekend and will be heading there again after a successful trip. To add to the previous mention he did also get some nice Silver Trevally as well. Take nothing away from the inner reefs and isolated marks. There was plenty of joy around the place with Coral Trout still being picked up from the Gneering and what you get out wide is in close as well. There were plenty of bag limits filled with Squire and Pearlies. Better inner locations are the Blinker, Caloundra 9 mile and Murphey’s.
The Mooloolah River hasn’t been heavily fished recently. The bream and garfish are starting to move in and with big bream already been landed. The river mouth has kicked off again with some school mackerel still around, bream, grunter, Squire and Luderick around the end of the wall and rocks to the right. The basin is still an easy destination to fish with trevally species, Whiting and Flathaed caught on beach worms, small pillies, herring and pipi’s.
The Beaches haven’t had the best of gutters recently but the fish seem to like what’s around. There is the odd Tailor, Flathead, Whiting and big Bream are lurking in the gutters tearing apart baits with Dart. Pichard, Mullet and Bonito Strips are the best baits presented on swiveled gangs. With Beach worms the best of the bunch with a high hook up rate with Whiting.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. ... RaWdTsQmnw
