Report 28/8/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Aug 28, 2015 1:12 pm

We have a fantastic stretch of calm weather even though there is rain. I always say a desert on land is a desert at sea. With the rain around and the influx of some fresh water accompanied by cloud cover this should turn on any ambush species as cloud cover gives them the extra reassurance to feed longer.
The offshore locations of Murpheys, Gneerings and the Barwon Banks have all produced some quality fish with the weather permitting. There are a few Coral Trout, Red Emperor and Large Snapper with Pearl Perch as the main catches of quality targeted fish. My Pick Location for offshore would have to be Caloundra 9 Mile for in Close and ‘The Hards’ North End Barwon Banks. The forecast for less than 10 knot winds, 10 second wave periods and less than 1m swell gives every angler the opportunity to head offshore this weekend.
The onshore fishing will be fishing fantastic this weekend with as before mentioned the cloud cover and fresh water aspect. The Beach has been throwing a few Tailor and Bream out with the deeper gutters working well on Bonito and Mullet fillets.
The Mooloolah River and Labalsa Park are going to be the pick of the destinations this week. The rain will be fleeting and when it does come there is plenty of shelter to hide in. We have seen some Golden Trevally, Flathead and monster Bream caught with the river mouth the better location to land some Tailor and the chance to get stuck into a mackerel or trevally.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. ... RaWdTsQmnw
