Maroochy Report
In the river; the upper reaches have been fishing well with plenty of baitfish holding around the Mouth of Coolum Creek. School jew, jacks, big flathead and the odd threadfin have been reported coming from the area. Further up river past Dunethin rock has been fishing well for good size bream, flathead and tailor with early mornings being the best time to fish. Back downriver the sand banks from Bli-Bli Bridge to Petrie Creek have been producing good numbers of flathead with slow trolled hard-body lures claiming their share. Big bream, tailor, trevally, flathead and jew have been active at the River Mouth with the top of the tide fishing well. Try fishing around sun down with the high to increase your chances.
On the beaches; the gutters along Northshore beach have played host to reasonable size dart, whiting, bream and flathead during the day with peeled prawns and small mullet strip baits working best. Of a night tailor and jew have been caught along Coolum Beach and out the front of Stummers Creek, fresh mullet strips and pilchards are the go to baits.
Offshore; in close has been quite tuff for most, with anglers getting squire, sweetlip and maori cod around Coolum Reef. The have been plenty of baitfish gathering in close around Hancock Shoal and off the Inner Gneerings. Out wide around The Banks has been fishing well for snapper, cod, cobia, amberjack and tuskies. With the shop now doubled in size we have almost twice the amount of gear, with new Jackall, Ecogear, Bassman and Zman just to mention a few.
