Report 2/10/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Oct 02, 2015 11:28 am

It looks like Friday and Saturday will have some wind and will peak in the middle of the day to late afternoon and then we are looking at some smooth weather for the remaining holiday period. Sunday and Monday look like the best weather patterns we have seen for a while and with Monday a public holiday who would dare complain.

The offshore has had mixed reviews with the full moon recently but I think we will be fine looking at what to expect. There is plenty of bait around and the variety of fish caught is eye catching. The Tuna have been boiling up around Coolum and out the front of Maroochydore. Offshore from Mooloolaba has seen plenty of squid and with all of this the billfish and Mackerel will be around in no time. The Snapper and Pearl Perch are still around Murpheys and The outer Gneerings. The Banks have seen some Amber Jack action with plenty of decent Squire as well. Cobia and the odd Kingy are still hitting the wrecks but are hard to entice. Persistence and Burley are key at the moment. Water temps are definitely increasing so remember to expect the unexpected as when it all fires you want to be prepared.

The Mooloolah River has seen the increase in whiting and flathead caught on lures predominately. Fishing for these with baits has worked well with mullet strip baits, white bait, beach worms and prawns. Soft plastics have worked in most area’s over the last fortnight with white being the number 1 colour. Paddle tails and slow moving curly tails are best with the odd Mangrove Jack been caught, live Herring wouldn’t go astray either.

We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. ... RaWdTsQmnw
