Report 13/11/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Nov 13, 2015 3:09 pm

Well we have just had the ‘new moon’ pass and I am a firm believer in the best fishing times are 4 days before and 5 days after. The weather seems to be settling in the mornings with Saturday and Sunday mornings could be worth planning a short trip offshore.
Offshore should see a spike in the reef species caught with some cloud cover and ‘New Moon’ aiding in what I would say is perfect opportunity to have a crack. Burley off the anchor line and attract the fish to your bait instead of burleying from the surface to feed the reef fish over a kilometer away. However throwing the odd cubed pilly off the back of the boat is recommended to try and entice a pelagic like an early season Spanish Mackerel. In the wider area’s we are seeing some more billfish action with plenty of Mahi Mahi also to feed plenty.
The rivers have seen more mangrove jack and mud crabs are a plenty. The new moon will bring out the estuary cod and mangrove jack as I believe ambush species really thrive on this kind of conditions. Whiting are now widespread with the basin and the Mooloolah boat ramp keeping the kids entertained. The Mooloolah River mouth rock walls are producing some fantastic variety with Tailor, Jew fish, Mangrove Jack, School Mackerel and the odd spotty. The conditions are perfect around ‘New Moon’ and fishing the tidal changes with some burley pellets is only going to increase your catch.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. ... RaWdTsQmnw
