Report 8/3/16

March 4
The river fishing should be great, with a few boats already tucked up in the nice protected bay near the mouth of the river. Make sure to burley and use a few differant baits and drop a crabpot while you fish and also have a squid jig out as with fishing it always depends on what around on the day.

Offshore is still a little sloppy so don't anchor up. A nice drift or a troll for some Mackerel will be the best bet. There have been an abundance of quality fish caught off the Gneerings if you don't want to travel.

March 6-7
No report

The rain has been on and off but a few boats have been offshore and reaped the rewards of it. Yes it is a little sloppy but the fish have almost forgotten what a line looks like. Plenty of Mackerel and Snapper around with the bottom species like sweetlip and emperor are in big numbers around Caloundra Reefs. Tuna have been busting in patches but are also there. Mackerel are sitting deep and live baits or slimy's have worked a real treat. Floating deadbaits have worked best.
The rivers are exploding with little trevally. Soft plastics and poppers are working the best for them. Mangrove Jack are coming out and hard bodied lures and fresh prawns are working well for them in the Mooloolah and Maroochy rivers.
