Report 15/4/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Apr 15, 2016 3:41 pm

April 14
Morning report: There is still a good gutter near the rocks at kawana beach that definately looks worth fishing and the reports of a few early season Tailor i have heard get me wanting to go for a dawn fishing there although it looks like it may be a little windy, and the reports of GT's off the rocks and in the Mooloolaba river canals continue to flood in.
Afternoon report: here have been plenty of fish just off the headland if there are any who like to brave the conditions. Mackerel, Tuna and a few reef fish are on the agenda around the Gneerings. The rivers and Pt Cartwright are holding trevally, school mackerel, bream and some decent sized pike. Lures, strip baits and a floating pilly are working a real treat. Whiting are still in the basin and around Picnic Point of the Marooch River and cured worms are best for them. Here is just one type of fish caught recently not too far off the coast, showing that travelling to the ends of the earth to catch a feed isn't always the best idea.

The rivers are been hit hard with small trevally, whiting and bream. The beaches have had a solid run of small juvenile Jew fish off the Kawana Beaches. Todays best opportunity for a key bite time and through the weekend will be early morning and late afternoon coinciding with sunrise, sunset and tide changes.
When the wind and swell slows it will be worth having a crack around Murpheys and Caloundra Wide with plenty of Cod and Snapper caught with the aid of a burley log on the anchor line.
