Perfect Weather for Angler last Weekend

Around the River Mouth, bream have been dominating the catches, with a small soft plastic like a Squidgy Wriggler or Keitech easy shiners in a lighter color really producing the goods. Just upriver from the mouth, the Black Banks area has been good for a feed of whiting. Twin Waters Wear has been good for trevally and small queenies, we have also seen nice flathead and bream around Oyster Bank Rd area. With the bigger bream starting to show up in the river crab imitation have been a real hit with a couple of the local angler. The crusty Crab from River2sea is a great one to try, Upriver, the area from Bli Bli Islands to the Cane Bridge has seen some great flathead action, with soft plastic vibes such as the Thumper Tails from Samaki really stirring up the fish. The other advantage about using a lure such as this; is it offers the chance of tangling with some bigger bi-catch such as mangrove jacks, school jew and even a threadfin salmon.
Offshore has also been a hive of activity with some amazing fish taken over the last week, Murphys Reef has again come up with the goods, with great coral trout taken last week. Sweetlip, cod and perlies also featured highly from the Reef. Pelagics also are still on the chew, with the water temp still sitting in the twenties we are seeing good spanish and spotted mackerel from most of our reefs. Tuna are also still in good numbers with mac tuna, longtail and yellowfin all taken last week.
For the crew hitting the beaches last weekend conditions were perfect with good morning and afternoon tides, there has been a lot of dart around making it difficult for whiting angler to get a bait to the bottom, larger bream and tailor have been coming from the deeper holes and gutters on the tide. Jew are also being reported at night with some quality fish landed from the Yaroomba area. Fresh mullet, squid, and worms have all been the go to bait.
