Report 5/8/16

August 2
The beach has had a good string of Tailor this last month and hopefully it will continue. There are some small Jew caught near the top end of Buddina Beachfront and Large Dart around the Surf club. There are a few more photo's coming in from the weekend, and this one is from Michael who ended up snaring this trophy size AJ on Sunday morning around the middle of the Barwon Banks. It apparently had a few light nibbles and subtle movements and when realised what was happening Michael struck and so did the AJ. With a few great runs and hard pulls the fish's head came away from any troublesome structure to be boated. This was caught on our Jumbo Pillies on a float rig (an in shop recommendation before the trip).

August 3
There are quite a few fisho's heading down to Kawana beach with hopes of jaging a Bream,Tailor or even a nice Jewfish. Because of the wind, the fishing will be largely limited to the estuaries over the next few days but the fish should be biting in the rivers regardless.

August 4
Although the wind is up we are still in the prime moon phase for fishing with reports of good numbers of Flathead and whiting up in the upper reaches of the Mooloolaba river and some big Bream still being caught around the Trawlers in the Mooloolaba harbour. There has been word of a few Whiting getting around if you wanted to fish the sand flats early morning on the run-in tide.

August 5
Morning report: There have been reports of a few gar still in the Basin and some solid Whiting still around and i have received a couple of pics of some nice bream that were caught recently in the lower reaches of the Mooloolaba river last night.
Afternoon report: the have been a few Tailor being taken in the rivers at both Labalsa park in the Mooloolaba system and at the Cod-hole boat ramp on ganged Pilchards, few Golden trevally on live-baits and small bibless stick-baits along with other Trevally species, lots of Bream are being taken with the Trawlers being the most talked about spot, and i spoke to a couple of fella's who said Coochin creek has been producing some nice mixed bags of Bream Flathead Whiting and the odd Jewfish.
