Report 9/8/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Aug 12, 2016 4:01 pm

August 6
The Rivers and catchment area's are teaming with bait and variety of table fish. There are still plenty of Gar in the Mooloolah River and Bream are feeding in the droves along Labalsa Park and most notably the Trawlers opposite Labalsa Park.

August 7
The beaches are forming some good gutters for the Tailor fishing and there are plenty of Gar, Bream, Pike and Trevally in the rivers. The swell will be decreasing continuously over the next few days. Offshore, the rough weather we've just had is exactly what was needed to replenish the stock out at our favourite spots.

August 8
The rivers have been firing with Bream and Trevally. Most Bream have been caught in the twilight hours around sunrise, sunset and into the dark night. There are reports the Maroochy River and Pumicestone Passage are fairing quite well for flathead and whiting with plenty of big bream still hanging around. We have a couple of nice photos with this report. The Bream were sent in by Stephen and caught in the Mooloolah River using mullet gut and small baby pillies. The whiting were sent in by Megan who has become a very accomplished whiting angler with a nice feed there out of Golden Beach.
August 9
The Mooloolah River has still maintained a good catch rate of Bream, Trevally and good sized Flathead. There are plenty of Gar still in the main channel near the basin and the river mouth. There have been plenty of large squid off the river mouth and inside along the pipeline on Pt Cartwright side. Offshore has just started to kick off and we are awaiting some solid reports. After the rough sea's of last week the fishing should be alot better with winds and large swell unsurfacing plenty of food on the bottom.
