December 27
The mackerel are turning up in more numbers with school mackerel taking up the majority of the numbers before christmas. With the current wind and swell pattern only the experienced is advised to head offshore until Thursday where the wind and swell is due to drop.
The mooloolah river has the greatest of variety fish caught with mackerel off the rocks along the rivermouth, bream, whiting and flathead caught throughout. We have a fantastic variety of trevally species caught from the banks and via boat along the river and canals. Best baits for entertainment are prawns and beach worms while the small pilchards, froggies and whitebait are the best to target the larger species on offer.

The Spanish Mackerel should be in nice and close and we have had some good soaking rain over the Christmas weekend so there should be some crabs moving around.
i have continued to hear reports of some bigger models of Flathead being caught in the Mooloolaba and some exciting stories of Mangrove Jack are still coming in.
The New Moon is tomorrow night so if the weather comes good for this weekend the fishing what ever you are doing should be good as i love fishing the spring tides
