The Tuna are busting up only a couple of hundred metres east of point cartwright and i have seen and heard heaps of reports of Longtail tuna action over the last week or so. There have been a couple of boats heading out for fish with plans to chase Mackerel and reef fish at locations such as The Gneerings shoals Currimundi Reef and the Wrecks such as the Jodi and the Barge.
This pic was sent in by Curtis who recently got a couple of longtail tuna off Mooloolaba.

The tuna have been firing with multiple reports of some great fish being caught on a range of lures including but not limited to Plastics like the 4 inch Zman streakZ's in Coconut Ice to bibless stickbaits and 30-40 gram shiny slugs.
Before conditions got bad, the inner reefs yielded some nice Grassies and even a Red-Throat or two getting around on the Gneerings shoals
Reports of a few Mudcrabs being caught in the Kawana Canals and some Bigeye Trevally Mangrove Jack and even a 80+cm Barra was caught in the upper reaches of the Mooloolah river last night.
There are some nice gutters along Kawana Beach and there have been reports of a few big Whiting,Dart,Bream and Flathead getting around in them.
Here are a few photos, starting with a boil that produced an awesome morning of tuna fishing this morning for Adam and Keegan with them turning up a variety of Tuna like Long-Tails, Mac Tuna and Even a couple of Juvenile Yellow-fin. Another Long-Tail was caught yesterday morning by Peter Clark who said they were everywhere. Finally we have a picture of nice Estuary cod caught in the upper reaches of the Mooloolah river just as a storm came through.

The off-shore reports that i have been getting from over the weekend indicate there have been pleanty of Long-tail and Mack tuna in the bay and the odd Spainish mackerel getting around at the Gneerings, bottom fish at the Gneerings and Currrimundi reef has proved fruitful at times with some Good catches of mixed reef fish and the Dolphin fish have been showing up in better sizes at the Fad's along our coast.
Here's a great pic of solid Dolpinfish that were pulled of a FAD(Fish Aggregating Device) out off Mooloolaba by Curtis.
