Report 14/9/18

Finally we have had some stable weather conditions for our fisho’s with some good results coming in. Nice Pearl Perch were in the mix through the week but you needed to travel a fair way north to find them. There were few Snapper about off Grassy if you worked for them. In front of the Jail the reports were of assorted reef fish with some rubbish amongst them. Some small Bar Cod were caught in about 90 meters with a sprinkling of Leather Jackets still about. Down south around Fish Rock and Green Island there has been some nice Kings coming in. If Spanner Crabs are your thing, there are good numbers of them out there at the moment.

Congratulations to the Kempsey Bass Club on another successful Bass catch out of the Macleay with some quality Bass caught not far from that magical 50cm mark. Spencer’s Creek was a hot spot for some good Flathead through the week along with shallows around from the Cut towards Clybucca. Daiwa Double Clutch Lures are now back in stock, these have to be the best lures for lizards in years. There were a few nice Jewfish caught off the Break Wall last week around the 15 to 20 kilo mark. Good numbers of Bream are about but sadly it’s time to rest your Blackfish gear till next year.

Beach and Rock fishing has been ok with the odd Tailor off the ledges and Bream on the beaches with a Whiting or two starting to show up.
