Weekly Report 2 Oct 11

A good week on the reef species this week around the Sunshine Coast with some quality cod, pearl perch and trag jew being taken. The Barwon Banks has again featured with strong catches of the mentioned species and some quality snapper taken right up on the top of the hards. The inner reefs have also provided some entertainment with sweetlip and red throat emperor being taken along with the odd red emperor. The tuna schools have continured breaking the surface around Kawana and Currimundi right past Old Womens Island through to Noosa. THere are some big fish in amongst them so remember to take out a spin rod set up ready to go.

The estuaries have really top quality flathead up for grabs at the moment. Fish around the 85cm mark are being taken quiet often around the traps particularly when you are using live baits like mullet and pike. The bream have slowed a little but there are plenty of pickers around to keep you interested. Trevally have made a good comeback and are hitting soft plastics and small blades around the sheltered waters of Pelican Waters. Casting well under the pontoons and close to the bridge pylons is an absolute necessity. A funny week ahead weather wise but there will be opportunities to get our and catch a few. Have Fun!
