Report 2/3/18

Last week blue water fisho’s battled to get Slimies off the bait grounds amongst lots of Yakkers. There were a few Spotted and Spanish Mackerel caught off Grassy and off the Jail but the results would have been better if we could get those Slimies. Some nice Cobia have been caught through the week while there has been the odd Dolphin Fish off the FAD. Green Island and Fish Rock are fishing well for Kings but with not much size about them. Off the bottom smaller Snapper are up north with the odd Sampson Fish reported. If you’re battling to bag a feed Flathead are in numbers off the Jail.

Up river past Jerseyville, GTs are active with reports of some nice Whiting still about. There were a few Mangrove Jack caught off Rainbow Reach through the week. Plenty of Flathead were boated in various locations with some good fish amongst them. Bream along the walls as usual but lighter gear will nab that bigger unit. Good numbers of Bass past Smithtown have been reported.

On the beaches good Whiting have been caught off the wrecks on Main Beach and along Smoky Beach. Gap Beach has been producing some quality Bream and Dart. Off the Rocks The odd Tailor are about with some smaller Kingfish down towards Hat Head.

Take care on the Bars
