Report 18/5/18

With the strong South westers howling early in the week most fisho’s chose to stay in bed. Outside they are still getting Spotted Mackerel off Grassy in 22 to 23 degrees water while one of our local Charter Boats hooked a 20 plus kilo Spanish on a bottom rig. Quality Snapper have been coming in with some honking Pearl Perch with the best one reported a staggering 10 pounder or just under 5 kilo. Out in front of the Jail Snapper and Pearl Perch have been on the bite with a few Mac Tuna chasing lures. Fish Rock has a few Kings coming in mostly around the 60 to 70cm range. Green Island is loaded with good Bream if you want some light gear action. A few locals ventured out on the wide marks for some nice Cod.

Flathead are in numbers in the river with nice fish up around Kemps corner to Clybucca. Bream are along the river Break Walls with a few finicky Blackfish. GTs are back around Jerseyville with a Flathead or two on the drop offs. Fish the Pylons of the Bridge with Plastics just on dark for some nice Schoolies. After much demand we are now stocking the Daiwa double clutch lures these have been deadly on Flathead.

Fishing the rocks has been a little dangerous with the bigger swells but we have had reports of Good Tailor, Kings and Drummer off the ledges, and down off Hat Head there are still a few Pelagics coming in.

On the Beaches the morning tides and the bigger seas made it tough earlier in the week. As it calmed there were a few Tailor in the afternoons with some really good Bream coming out of the surf.
