April is now long gone but we have plenty of great memories of April 2018 here at HBFSF. Guides have been kept busy with a run of good weather which saw us on the water 7 days a week. The weather looks to continue into May with now just a few days here hand there of windy conditions making way for good periods of calm weather.

With water temps still around 26 c in parts of the bay the pelagic fishing continues to be great. Queenfish were a standout for guests during April with some great specimens well over 1 m about. April also provided plenty of longtail action with some great sessions for our guests. Mac tuna, golden trevally, school, spanish and broad bar mackerel, various trevallys, black jew and more provided plenty of variety.

We had some great fishing in the Sandy Straits during late April with bait balls creating some first class fishing for both lure and fly anglers just minutes from the Harbour. We still have some good tuna schools working the inshore shipping channels which is a good sign for the coming month.

Bait ball action.

Snapper will start to move in soon which will be a welcome change of season. The south westerly winds will come in shortly which will start to cool the water down and get some winter species active. In the mean time we will have plenty of other great fish on offer as we will continue to see plenty of pelagic action long with the odd snapper over the coming month.

Not long now until the snapper arrive.
