Report 19/10/18

Well we have had a week to forget. Seven days of rain and wind along with an ugly bar crossing kept all blue water fisho’s land based. So, our outside report apart from one brave pro fisherman getting Bonito is a non-event.

Last week we had an ABT Bream Costa sunglasses sponsored event (which we are proud stockiest of) held on our river. About 35 boats competed to get their 5 best Bream in the live tank. They fished 2 days from the Kempsey Bridge to the mouth of the Macleay river in very difficult conditions with Grant Manusu taking the $2800.00 1st place prize with a total weight of 3.53 kg for his five Bream. Good Flathead were reported through the week with some big Lizards coming out of Back Creek and our river system in various locations. Jewfish made a welcome return with a number caught off the Break wall at night. All the rain we have had is starting to color the river up so from now the mighty Macleay should be producing some nice fish.

A couple of Beach fisho’s on Smoky Beach got lucky with some nice Jewfish in the gutters down towards Hat Head mid-week. Conditions were not great towards the Lighthouse but Bream and Whiting were in numbers. In the big seas the rock hoppers thought best to stay home to fish another day.

As mentioned if you are looking for that special pair of sunnies check out our range of COSTA glasses with the 580G lenses (glass) and spoil yourself at a very competitive price.
