Report 16/11/18

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Nov 16, 2018 4:42 pm

Hello everyone, the fishing report this week again comes from a women’s prospective as Brett has not yet returned from annual leave. Rest assured he will be back with some stories and great photos for next Friday’s report.

What a great week we have just had on the Gold Coast with lots of sunshine, low winds, no rain and the temperatures have been quite bearable.

Reports are coming in that some nice Whiting are biting throughout the rivers and sandbanks in the Broadwater & Jumpinpin areas. Some good spots to target are the North Bedrooms and Tiger Mullet Channel. For the land based angler, try Paradise Point beach and Marine Parade Labrador. Try using small yabbies or worms. Summer is just around the corner and the nights are starting to warm up, so why not try your luck at some night fishing. Night time is a great time to go fishing with less activity on and around the water, fish seem to become more active and feed more aggressively with the cover of darkness. You may even pick up a Blubber Lip Bream like little Liam (see brag board). Don’t forget the insect repellent!

We have had reports from both our houseboat customers and local tackle shop customers of some good sized Flathead being caught in the Coomera River, Brown Island, Whalleys Gutter and Canaipa Passage which are all good spots to hook a Flatty. Drift either dead or live bait across the tops of the sandbanks at high tide to see if you can get a bite. See our brag board for Brandon pictured with his personal best 56cm Flathead and a nice Snapper caught in the Broadwater by one of our regular houseboat customers Rod Taylor.

A mixed bag (or should I say “pot”) of both Sand and Mud crabs being caught this week. With the majority still being Sandys, the rain forecast for next few days should help to flush the Muddies out. Some good spots to throw in your pots would be Dux, Never Fails, Curtis and Tiger Mullet Channel. Use Whole Mullet as bait and remember to check you have not keep any crab that is undersized. We sell crab measures for under $7.00 and are a good investment and may even save you from a fine.

Clint from Brad Smith Fishing Charters has a good week with client Che picking up a Giant Travelly on the Nerang River (see brag board). I hope you all have a good weekend and get out for a fish in between the showers that are forecast. If you have any great catches or photos you would like to share, please email us and let us know how you went.

Happy fishing!

Coomera Houseboat Holidays/Coomera Bait & Tackle now have Hire Tinnies follow the link to view http://www.coomerahouseboats.com.au/our ... e-tinnies/
Seabreeze is a great website to access a local forecast http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/

The forecast for the week end looks like we will see light winds mostly from the north on Friday and Saturday. Sunday will see a complete change with the wind tending from the S/SE as the day progresses but should remain light to moderate. Unfortunately we are going to see a few shower over the weekend. We always recommend you have the latest weather report before you head out on the water.

If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to brett@coomerahouseboats.com.au.
Good luck with the Fishing this week, Sandra
