Report 20/12/18

Post by Nicole Penfold » Thu Dec 20, 2018 1:13 pm

First of all, welcome to all our holiday makers let’s hope it’s a holiday to remember in our beautiful part of the world. Most of last week was blown out with a north east wind making tough for the outside fisho’s. Water did warm to 25 deg towards the end of last week off Grassy Head with a few Spotted Mackerel coming in. The trouble is live bait has been hard to find and if you get them they are on the small side. Out wider the FAD has some nice Dolphin Fish coming in with a few Marlin spotted free swimming. Off the Jail there has been the odd Snapper, Mowie and Jewfish with no reports of small Blacks in close as yet. Down around Fish Rock good Kings are being caught in fair numbers.

The Flathead numbers are increasing with some good catches all throughout our river system. From the Jerseyville Bridge up river, Flathead to 80cm taking Lures and live baits readily. Back down to Clybucca Whiting are in numbers in the shallows with some nice Lizards along the drop offs. The Oyster racks are holding some good Bream taking lures and worms. There has been the odd Jewfish towards the mouth of the river in the dirty water.

The beaches have been tough with the north easterlies churning it up. But as it calms the Whiting and Bream should be biting their heads off.
