Cool conditions were with us again while later in the week the seas whipped up and most blue water fisho’s were happy to stay in bed. Earlier in the week boats headed up to fish the northern reefs for Snapper, Pearl Perch, Trag and the odd Sampson Fish. Even though the water is still around the 22 degree mark no Mackerel were reported. In front of the Jail one or two Jewfish were landed along with Snapper and Mowies. Green Island and Fish Rock has been fishing well for some thumper King Fish but the conditions were ordinary through the week. Mac Tuna are in good numbers with a few bigger Tailor caught on the troll.

There were some nice Bream caught along the Break Wall with some brutes well over the kilo mark taking Mullet strips, Gut and Herring. Around the Matty’s Flat boat ramp and cleaning tables fisho,s are having fun with the Kings coming in chasing the Herring at high tide clearly visible in the crystal water but don’t forget they need to be 65cm. Flathead are getting harder to find but we did get reports further up river is the go. Luderick are growing in numbers out of a few locations but they don’t seem to be actively feeding at the moment. Hopefully this cold snap may spark the green weed to grow in the usual haunts.

Off the ledges Tailor, Bream and Blackfish are in numbers with some nice Kings coming in as well off the Light House and the rocks around Hat Head. This is the time you can find that thumper Drummer in close just make sure you’re geared up to pull them out.

The beaches have been finicky through the week with some nice Tailor and Bream coming in but there can be a lot of water between them.
