Report 12/7/19

Westerlies were the order of the week with some fair conditions on the water to be had. Good numbers of Snapper were caught off the grounds of Grassy, Scotts and up to Nambucca. Snapper up to 7 kilo mostly caught on Pilchards and Squid. Pig Fish, Pearl Perch and the odd Sampson Fish made the bag as well. Off the Jail, Snapper and Mowies are about with good numbers of Leather Jackets on the wider grounds. Bar Cod were caught through the week out of the deeper water.

Green Island is loaded with cracker Bream at the moment so if you want light gear action this is the place to be. King Fish are out of the same location as well as Fish Rock where we have had reports of big fish bust offs. Great Bream numbers continue in the river with most fish coming from the Break walls. Jetties and boat ramps are producing some nice fish with the help of some quality burley.

It seems the Luderick are doing their thing at present because they have gone off the bite. Visually there are loads of them about and they will be hungry after their spawn. There were a few Flathead about last week keen on live Mullet. Hot spots were around Clybucca and up around Fisherman’s Reach. Way up river to Smithtown, Flathead and Bream are in good numbers.

Smoky Beach has had some thumper Bream taken this week with a few Tailor in the mix but there has been a lot of water between them. Gap has a few Whiting with not much size about them, but we have had reports of some quality Tailor early mornings. For the rock hoppers Bream, tailor, Luderick and some nice Drummer have been caught.
