Again conditions outside were uncomfortable for venturing out wide. The close reefs off Grassy were productive for snapper. Even though most fish were small there were some over 6kg. Pearl perch and trag were about in fair numbers. Bonito have made a return to the reefs in front of the Jail. Tailor are also in close along the rocks with some good fish among them. Fish Rock has a few kings with bonito and mac tuna. Leatherjackets are in big numbers out past 60m.
The NSW Fishing Titles were held here last week with the beach and rock section of the competition very productive. Smoky and Gap beaches and around to Point Plomer were loaded with tailor and big bream providing a great result at the weigh-in tables. Rockhoppers have been getting good drummer, bream, tailor and salmon. Jewfish have been pulled from the ledges off the Lighthouse and Hat Head.
Blackfish are finally on the bite with some nice catches along the South Wall, North Wall and through the Cut. Bream are in good numbers along the walls, taking a variety of fish baits and gut. Clybucca has a few flathead with most around pan size. School jew and some nice bream are around the pylons of Jerseyville bridge taking bigger plastics and whole live worms.
Special: Finn Nor Jig and Spin rods $210. Shop around, this is a very hot price while stocks last.
