Heaps of tailor throughout the river and also a few salmon. Take your pick, bait or lures, run in, run out, day or night. How long they’ll last, who knows. Some nice bream around the rock walls with the run-in tide best. Plenty of school flathead in the upper reaches, try Barneys Point, Seagulls, Cobaki. Blackfish also going great around the bridges and rocky points, so the river is on fire at the moment.
The beaches also have quite a few tailor from Fingal Head down to Kingscliff with bigger fish around Cabarita and Hastings Point. Also quite a few school jew from the headlands – and the odd salmon.
Quite a few snapper and kingfish in close with spanglies as well. Wider for more snapper, pearlies, parrot and pigfish, cobia on live bait and wider still for samson. Try from the 24 fathom reefs to the 36 fathom and 45 fathoms.
