Weekly Report 23/8/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:35 pm

Fairly good conditions on the water with some nice fish caught offshore. Some very presentable tuskfish boated off the snapper grounds around Grassy with a few nice snapper. Off the wider grounds pearl perch and morwong were in fair numbers in among the jackets. Fish Rock has been a little quiet with one or two kings around, with most only rats. Rocks in Line has been producing small snapper and a few mowies. Tailor have been taken on the troll around the Lighthouse.
It has been tough to catch a fish from The Cut to the mouth with the water crystal clear. Bream are along the breakwall but light gear is essential. Blackfish have all but disappeared; let’s hope it’s not an early end to the season. There have been bream off the racks around Clybucca with flathead in front of the creek drains. The best chance for a flathead is up river past Jerseyville Bridge.
Smoky Beach is fishing well for bream and dart as is Gap Beach with the odd tailor first and last light. Rockhoppers are getting jewfish, tailor and drummer with reports of a few salmon arriving.
