2/6/06 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:40 am

Offshore: Local boat Rivenge worked wide last Sunday and proved that marlin are still around. Scattered reports of cobia are still coming in but May is traditionally the last we see of them until next season. Reasonable reports of snapper and small kingfish are being received from most areas. Plenty of tailor and bream in the washes around headlands if conditions allow your boat in close.
Beaches: Generally the beach fishing has been slow. A few locals have gone north to Old Bar and have had better success on the tailor. If you want to catch bream, learn to fish the rocks. A couple of quality mulloway came off beaches at Seal Rocks last weekend.
Rocks: Traditional drummer and bream fishing is the go, with tailor also available. Potholes around Blackhead are holding plenty of blackfish.
Estuary: Mulloway are again taking big soft plastics around the breakwalls now that the schools of baitfish have moved on. Some big tailor are still cruising the lake and will make a mess of your soft plastics. Bream spinning in the rivers is more productive than in the lower part of the lake.
